I take it back, 37 people is actually so many people. This batch of print club envelopes took so long to pack! But so worth it and I can’t wait for you guys to see what I sent you! Guys I’ve been painting like a crazy person. This is the 24th painting I’ve gotten done during the month of May. I have so much on my to do list for June and honestly (and I know this sounds crazy) but it feels like a breath of fresh air to have much on my plate. Like how much lucky am I to be this busy with the work I’ve longed for all my life. Some things I’m looking forward to that are coming up are 1. Porter Flea: a huge artist market in Nashville (and if you live around that area please go, I promise you won’t regret it. It’s got 200 amazing juried artists and it’s a market where you wont find “ai art” or 3d printed dragons, only real very talented people here) 2. I signed a lease at Kress Emporium! Which, if you’re not familiar, is an amazing gallery in the middle of downtown Asheville and that lease starts on literally the day after I’m back from Porter Flea lol. And 3. My print club now has 36 members and May 31st (tomorrow) is the last day to join to receive mays envelope. Im so thankful for all of you that have joined. The rainy weather has taken a huge toll on my income for the month of May because I can’t attend my usual farmers markets or I go anyway and no one comes to shop so I’ve basically been relying on Instagram and my website to get by. So yeah lots of big expensive but exciting things and happening in my world and just hoping the universe is looking out for me and that all this hard work will pay off <3

Here’s a little bit about my painting process :
First I went grocery shopping for all the ingredients, made watery coffee because no reason to waste a bunch of coffee grounds when bad coffee looks the same. Then set up my little “breakfast” arrangement at 9pm and ate all the food with my fiancé lol. Took a bunch of pictures first of course, and then took the photo to procreate and drew on top of it to pick out all my colors. Traced my reference picture and then went at it with a paint brush for a whole day :) What do you think about the final result?

Okay first hear my case: almost all of my painting are done from my own reference pictures that I took however I think there’s a blurry line where one art form ends and another one starts. I never copy images exactly if they aren’t my own. I always change them in many ways to the point that the painting is objectively a completely different image but yes there was still a reference picture involved that I didn’t take. I personally believe this is completely ethical and nothing was stolen because that painting is inspired from that image and not directly copied. I don’t think you can change my mind on the ethics of this but feel free to try. You’ve got my full attention.

It’s not the most professional looking studio but me and my baking sheet paint pallet, fancy printer, and paintbrush bathtub are living the artist dream over here nonetheless. Some of you make not know but a fun fact about me is that 90% of my paintings get done between the hours of 9pm-2am and I’ve come to except that those are just my work hours haha. Any creative people also only in the mood for art in the middle of the night?

I know comparison is the thief of joy but sometimes I can’t help but think I need to have my whole career lined out by my age. Feeling really good about this painting though.
